ABOUT US
The Assyrian Australian Medical Association (AAMA) is a nationwide, not-for-profit, academic, professional organisation legally registered in NSW Australia.
AAMA uniqueness lies in its interest and concern in serving a community that comes originally from different countries in the Near East, primarily but not limited to; Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Israel, which during ancient historical times shared common administration and hence the namesake given to this association as a mere historical reference.
AAMA, represented by its founding members, acknowledges and realises the specific and unique needs of such community which shares a lot in common yet diverse and divided by different borders of states, ideologies and interests.
This led to the founding of AAMA as the only organisation that is not limited or restricted by such boundaries, regulations or conventions.
This will inherently improve the health outcomes of much deserved, yet marginalised community of such minorities.
Founded in 2021, AAMA functions by creating a medium where its members come together to strengthen their professional knowledge and skills in order to be better equipped our uniquely diverse community. This is achieved via conducting educational seminars, webinars, lectures and conferences.
AAMA also helps creating an avenue for its members to seek support at times of need, and a facility for building social relationships between members themselves, and between members and our community through networking, community events and more.
Members of AAMA come from a wide range of medical and other health disciplines, such as; nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, medical science and engineering, allied health, social work, nutrition, veterinary medicine, health related studies, academia, the students of each disciplines and more.
AAMA encompasses members of, and is concerned with servicing a community made up of, Assyrian, Chaldean and Syriac as well as other closely related minorities like; Mandean, Yizidi and others.
AAMA acknowledges the diversity of our community and respect all and every single fabric and colour of it, and acts and functions, in accordance to its constitution and Code of Ethics, with complete neutrality and unbiasedness in terms of ethnicity, religion, sect, affiliation, personal convictions,…etc.
As a new organisation of its kind, AAMA acknowledges the needs and aspirations to update, develop, advance and improve with time.
