If you or someone you know has been bitten by a tick, remember:
1. Do not squeeze, agitate or forcibly remove the tick.
2. Kill the tick by spraying it with a product that contains ether (these can be found at any chemist). Hold the spray about 1cm above the tick and spray 5 times.
3. The tick should die in about 5 minutes.
4. The tick should then drop or be easily brushed away.
If the tick does not drop off, or you can’t freeze the tick, leave it and seek urgent medical assistance.
